Book number 12
This book is different from what I expected. The author talks about a 'relationship' with money. Like human relationships, each party brings something different. Money brings (quite obviously) the mathematical ability to buy things. What we bring is character, love, values and a brain.
We worry about not having enough money. But what is enough? Often we just want 'more'. Often it's because we're trying to get money to do the 'human' things - and that's when no amount is enough.
An interesting read.
Why am I telling you this?
1. Some books are really helpful, and so I like to spread the word about them.2. I chat with people who drive to work. They say it's 10-15 minutes quicker than public transport. So they think they 'saved time'.
What they don't get is that spending over an hour every day steering a car is a far bigger waste of time. Over a year, a 40 minute commute adds up to about 320 hours. That's 8 working weeks. A lot of time to spend in traffic.
What do I do?
Take advantage of public transport. There's so much more you can do in your commute. Especially if you have a smart phone or tablet.Personally, I like books. In my 16 minute train trip, I get a fair amount of reading done. I'm quite a slow reader - just ask anyone who has lent me a book. But with 10 commutes per week (and some other trips) it adds up to a lot of reading time I don't other wise get to enjoy.
